Nonprofit Business Award - Brad Shear - timesunion.com - Albany NY

Ok, so I?ve admitted before that I sometimes get behind on the blog. ?There are so many subjects I want to write about and, well sometimes it gets a little busy around here. ?On the Friday before Thanksgiving everyone at the Humane Society was thrilled and honored to be the recipients of the Tech Valley Nonprofit Business Council?s 2012 Nonprofit Organization Award (1-74 Employees). ?The Council is a collaboration between the Albany-Colonie Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Schenectady County. ?Like the collaboration between the two chambers, the award focuses on organizations that collaborate with other non-profit groups. ?The award recognizes the great work our staff and volunteers who do incredible work for people and animals every day with the support of our caring community.

The focus of this award was our collaboration with Unity House and Equinox to create the Safe Haven Program. ?In addition to Safe Haven we find many ways to collaborate with others. ?Our Food Pantry program distributes pet food to people in need through local food pantries. ?Our Disaster Preparedness Program is a collaboration with the sheriff?s department and other groups who will come together to help animals if there is a?disaster. ?We are always looking for ways to work collaboratively to help both people and animals. ?We are delighted and honored to have this recognition.

Here is the video that was played at the award ceremony:
