How better recruitment tracking can save the US Economy | Human ...

You hear it all the time from those in the know ? small businesses are the backbone of the
American economy. That has a great deal to do with the fact that it is small businesses that
employ most Americans. Thus, one might say what is good for small business is good for
America. When a small business can cut operating costs by using technologies like recruitment
tracking systems, it has a greater opportunity to grow. When growth occurs, that leads to
expansion for many businesses, and expansion means the need to hire more workers.

Production is profit, and production comes from the labor force, not the human resources
management team. Human resource staff, of course, does have an important role in business,
but the bottom line is the bottom line ? it is the actual product or services produced by the
labor force that brings in the profits. Over-investing in your human resources team and under-
investing in the actual labor force just doesn?t make good business sense. That is especially true
in today?s struggling global economy, when American businesses not only have to compete
nationally, but also in the global economy with businesses in countries known for their ability to
undercut American production costs.

If you can reduce the manpower hours used in human resource management types of tasks by
taking advantage of what targeted, task specific computer software and systems can offer, like
applicant tracking systems and other information management systems, you?ll have more to
invest in your labor force or in growing your business. Rather than having your human resource
people spend their time on tasks that computer software and task specific systems can do more
efficiently and much more cost-effectively, have them handle the work that still needs that
human touch.

Businesses can get top heavy if those in charge are not careful. It can be easy in some types
of industries to end up with an excess of management and administration. Streamlining those
functions and reducing the number of personnel required to handle those responsibilities is
a real possibility with wise technology choices, such as investing in one of the top applicant
tracking systems. Often, administration and management positions are the most highly paid in
an organization, and reducing the number of those positions or the manpower hours used in
those departments can result in significant savings.

When small businesses invest in smart ways to reduce operating costs, it is good business
practice. When they gain a better way of getting things done with that investment, it is great
business practice. A quality applicant tracking system is an excellent example of exactly that.
An applicant tracking system is a far more efficient means of dealing with managing that sort of
information than the most sophisticated, highly paid human resources department could be and
is a far more cost-effective option. The cost of the manpower necessary to perform the same
tasks performed by a recruitment tracking system would be astronomical. Smart choices grow
businesses, the businesses that can save the American economy.
