The Twin Cities is an active area, and now plans are starting to take shape that would build one of the largest indoor sports facilities in the country in Brooklyn Park.

It's still in the early stages, but the group behind the facility calls it the Minnesota Sports Center. The site would be nine acres, part of it being 400,000 square feet of indoor fields under one roof.

"We really felt that there's a big need for an indoor, mixed-use athletic facility that would draw in folks from all sorts of areas, not just the metro, but regionally and state wide," said David Gee, who is on the board of the group.

According to Minneapolis Northwest, the Twin Cities gets passed over for tournaments each year because we don't have the right facilities, costing the area about $7.5 million dollars each year.
