Clean Energy Finance Corporation income tax exemption

On 8 May 2012, the government announced that the Clean Energy Finance Corporation?(CEFC) will be exempt from tax. The objective of the CEFC, to be established by the government as part of the Clean Energy Future Package, is to overcome capital market barriers that hinder the financing, commercialisation and deployment of renewable energy, energy efficiency and low emissions technologies.

The tax exemption will provide certainty as to the taxation status of the CEFC and enhance its ability to finance investments in the commercialisation and deployment of renewable energy and enabling technologies, energy efficiency and low-emissions technologies.

The measure will have effect from 1?July?2013.
